I started making kites in the late 80’s because my wife was not going to let me buy them. It was southern California around 88 or 89 and kites were pretty big then. I started making stunt kites, then stunt kite stacks, then foils and SLK’s. I have always had a real job and made the kites for fun. I have sold a few along the way to help support this habit of mine. The patchwork stuff started around 91 or so when I had bags of scrap from the stunt kites that I could not bring myself to throw away. Over the years it has kind of become my signature look. I don’t draw anything up, or sketch stuff out, it just sort of happens in my head and I try to make it look like what I see in my mind, sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn’t.

I am so proud to be making kites and panels for Rev as part of the Masterpiece series and look forward to doing more of it.

Thank you all

Kevin Bayless
